These competencies have been modified for medical students. The six core competencies are Patient Care, Medical Knowledge, Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, Professionalism, and System- Based Practice. Measurable course objectives and benchmarks have been developed for students in the Preclerkship (years 1 and 2) and Clerkship/Advanced (years 3 and 4) phases of the curriculum.
